$11M in grants available to help Boone County upgrade radios

Boone County, Missouri, is launching a major public safety communication upgrade, transitioning its first responders to a new 800 MHz P25 Phase 2 radio system. To support this significant technology shift, the County Commission created a Radio Grant Program to help local law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies afford the necessary new handheld and in-vehicle radios.

This initiative, funded by the county's 911 sales tax, promotes interoperability, enhances clarity, and ensures all agencies can communicate effectively on the unified digital platform when it goes live in mid-to-late 2026.
